Meet the Owner

Owner Bio: Edward Charity, Jr.

Everyone wants to love their home, but not everyone loves the maintenance that comes with it. Many people either don’t know how to, don’t have the ability to or would rather pay someone else to handle home maintenance for them. I’m Edward Charity, Jr., the local Owner and General Manager of TruBlue of Alexandria, and I opened TruBlue of Alexandria because I saw a need for a trustworthy, one-call-does-it-all company to help seniors and busy professionals maintain their homes.

TruBlue is a full-service company that provides handyman, house cleaning, emergency repairs, yard/lawn care and seasonal services that are perfect for busy families, seniors and anyone who want the comforts of their own home without worrying about critical property maintenance. We also offer a monthly House Care Plus program, which enables our clients to hire TruBlue to provide regular, monthly maintenance; we work with homeowners, realtors and rental property owners who need to quickly get homes move-in ready and keep them maintained; and we have commercial services available for business clients.

I lived in Alexandria from 1988 through 2002 and moved to Arlington in 2003. I’m a member of Alfred Street Baptist Church of Alexandria, where I’m currently a member of the Budget and Finance Committee and the Affordable Housing Advisory Team. I have an adult daughter who attended Burgundy Farm Country Day School in Alexandria, graduated from Yorktown High School in Arlington, and graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.

I have a degree in accounting and was fortunate to be a part of the early adoption of personal computers for accounting and financial analysis. I combined my accounting education and interest in information technology to drive my career into the accounting and project management information systems field. I ran my own professional service firm, Project Management Systems Consultants, LLC, from 2004 to 2019.

Owning my own business gave me the opportunity to step back and think about what else I wanted to do with my career. I began to look at different opportunities and discovered a need for professional home maintenance services. I grew up with an uncle who could build or fix anything and that inspired my love of home improvement. When I discovered TruBlue, I realized this was something I would enjoy doing that could really help people. I’m looking forward to helping seniors and busy families and professionals in my community.
